Anderton
Boat Lift is located just over 3 miles from Northwich Town Centre
and approximately 20 miles from Manchester Airport. It can be accessed
by all major motorway and rail networks. Below are various directions
by rail, bus and road
as suggestions to help visitors find their way to the Anderton Boat
Lift.
At weekends (and on special
events) ALL VEHICLES must enter through the Uplands Road entrance.
VEHICLE PARKING
Car Parking
is available at the Anderton Boat Lift. Charges are £2.00 for up to 3 hours, or
£3.00 all day. Charges will operate from 10am till 8pm daily.
Coaches have free parking.
It is advisable to book Coach
Parties in advance to ensure parking spaces are available. Please contact
the Anderton Boat Lift on 01606 872868 regarding this before your journey.
BY RAIL
Local railway stations are available at Cuddington, Acton Bridge,
Hartford, Greenbank, Northwich and Lostock Gralam. Telephone Virgin Rail

BY BUS
Regular buses run to and from the Northwich area. Telephone Chester Bus
Line on Chester 01244 602666 or Northwich on 01606 815050 for timetable
details and prices.

From the M6
Anderton Boat Lift can be reached from the M6 exiting at Junction 19 and
following the A556 that leads onto the A559 into Northwich Town Centre.
Follow the Brown road signs located on or near to the traffic lights,
signposted for Anderton Boat Lift.
From the M60, M56 and from
Manchester Airport
Anderton Boat Lift can be reached off the M60 by joining the M56 and
exiting at Junction 7. Follow the A556 that leads onto the A559 into
Northwich Town Centre and look for the Brown road signs located on or
near to the traffic lights, signposted for Anderton Boat Lift.
Alternatively, exit the M56 at Junction 10 and follow the A559 signposted
for Comberbach. Turn right into Comberbach and follow the road passing
Marbury Park on the left. Continue along the road until you reach the
Anderton Boat Lift.
From the M60 and M62
Anderton Boat Lift can be reached off the M60 by joining the M62 and
exiting at Junction 9 and following the A49 straight onto the A559. At the
A559 crossroads and traffic lights turn right onto the A559 into Northwich
Town Centre. Follow the Brown road signs located on or near to the
traffic lights, signposted for Anderton Boat Lift.
From the A533
Travel along the A533 Runcorn Road through Barnton Village. At the traffic
lights on Winnington Bridge go straight ahead up the hill and follow the
Brown signposting to the Anderton Boat Lift.
From Chester
Join the A51 that leads onto the A54. Follow the A54 and this will lead
onto the A556. Continue along the A556 and you pass through Hartford on
the A559 following signs for Northwich. Continue along the A559 until you
see Moss Farm Road. At this set of traffic lights turn left and follow the
road to the end of the next set of traffic lights. At the traffic lights
you will see a Brown sign ahead of you, turn left at these traffic
lights signposted for Anderton Boat Lift and follow the road to Winnington
Bridge. Turn right at the bridge signposted for Anderton and up the hill,
continue to follow the signs for Anderton Boat Lift for about 1 mile until
you reach the right turn into the Anderton Boat Lift entrance.
