Private Boats

British Waterways 'Canal & River'
Long Term Licence Holders 3, 6, or 12 Month Licence.

Free of Charge if turning up on spec, on site on the day and taking the next available slot. To book the following administration charges apply.

 

British Waterways 'Rivers Only'
Long Term Licence Holders 3, 6, or 12 Month Licence.

Are required to upgrade their licence to a 'Canal & River' licence for the duration of their cruise on the canal but are entitled to a 50% discount by means of a short term licence. (Short term licence upgrade must be in place prior to passage).
Free of Charge if turning up on spec, on site on the day and taking the next available slot. To book the administration charges apply.

 

British Waterways 'Short Term Only'
Licence Holders 1 Day, 1 Week, 1 Month or Explorer Licences

To use the lift you will be required to pay the Usage Charge.

 

Non British Waterways Licenced Vessels (ie: Bridgewater Boats)

To use the lift you will be required to pay the Usage Charge.

Hire Boats

You will need to gain permission from the Hire Boat Company before you are allowed use the Anderton Boat Lift. Please be aware that the boat will also need to be licensed. Refer to TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

Passage Safety Rules

• Engine must be switched off once vessel is secured inside caisson.

• No Unattended naked flames

• No standing or sitting on cabin roofs or gunnels

• Do not lean over side of vessel or caisson

• All instructions from Lift Operator must be obeyed

• In the unlikely event of an emergency all passengers and crew should remain in their vessels unless instructed otherwise by the Lift Operator

In the event of an emergency on your vessel please sound your horn to attract the Lift Operator’s attention
